From the collection: ‘Tranquility in the wilderness’.
Walking along the local beaches in the winter brings me enormous joy. To have the whole beach to yourself, to have the wind whistling through the marram grass on the dunes and whip your hair, brings an immense feeling of well-being. It is a moment to be still, to soak it all in, to catch your breath.
I’ve used different marks and gold leaf to capture the movement and texture of the marram grass as it sways in the wind, and contrasts with the quieter shoreline.
