Description
From the collection: ‘Tranquility in the wilderness’.
In the winter, we have some very impressive storms here in Wales. The gales can be extreme and the rain torrential. But when they stop, the way the clouds break and let the sun through so that it lights their edges like haloes, is spectacular. The once dark, brooding and almost monochrome landscape, is suddenly lit up as if the colours have been turned back on, and their intensity turned up to maximum. It’s something I never tire of seeing, or trying to paint.
I’ve used gold leaf in this painting to create the intensity of light in the landscape.
