Description
This painting was inspired by the broken reflections on the surface of ripples on the sea around Skokholm Island in Pembrokeshire. Whilst waiting for the boat to fetch us, I noticed that the sea was so calm it’s surface was almost completely unbroken, so that the ripples became mirrors for sections of the shoreline. This created a wonderful effect of having patches of bright colour and pattern of the land surrounded by the blues and greens of the sea and sky. I was captivated and sat and took innumerable photographs of it so that I could try and capture the effect back at home.
In this work I’ve used acrylic pens to embellish the patterns and add abstract details.
