The tonic of wilderness.

Acrylic, moulding paste and metallics on box canvas

80 x 30cm

I was walking through a reed bed this summer. The stems and seed heads towered above me, and as I walked it felt almost like I was walking through a forest of stems. I was acutely aware of the sound of the wind rattling the reeds, and of the light filtering between the foliage. It was a magical feeling. I’ve used moulding pastes and metallic pigments to enhance the three dimensional elements of this painting, so that you feel as if you are walking through the reeds with me.
