This painting was inspired by my childhood days in North Pembrokeshire. My auntie had a farm on the rugged hills above Strumble Head in Pembrokeshire. This rocky outcrop, we called it ‘Y Garn’, was right at the top of her land, and we would scramble up through the yellow gorse and purple heather to look out across the farm. The wind would blow up from the sea and catch our hair as we watched the blustery skies scud by, and the odd shaft of sunlight shine through. It remains one of my favourite places in the world, and has featured in many of my paintings.
