I’m really enjoying working in the studio as I feel the momentum beginning to build.

There’s always a bit of a lag as I start a new body of work, but gradually, as canvases start to fill with colour and marks, the inertia is broken and the energy begins to flow.

Does this happen to you too?

The walls are covered in all sorts of sketches and canvases in progress, and I’m surrounded by my @skokholm_island colour palette.

And Steve’s happy- there’s framing to do!!! 😉😉😉

It’s time to put all the experimentation to the test!!! Adding different oxides and slips to my landscape forms ready for their first firing. Yes I absolutely do have everything crossed 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Delighted to be part of ‘Mountains Moons Music’ @studiocennen with so many amazing artists.

Can’t wait to see it for real: it looks beautiful.

I’m calling this colour ‘Skokholm sandstone’.

You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to mix this colour!!! Fortunately I have kept a record of the colours I’ve used….. fingers crossed I can mix it again!!!

What I love is the variation in the old red sandstone on @skokholm_island : sometimes it’s redder, sometimes pink, and sometimes the most fantastic burgundy colour.

And all of this is covered in orange and sage-green lichen: it’s no wonder it’s an tricky colour palette to capture!!!

Spent a happy few hours cropping and collaging ‘impression paintings’ done using sketches and photos from ‘my’ mountain and @skokholm_island

It’s always a surprise whatyou can find when you focus on on a small area of a painting: new, unexpected compositions and abstractions suddenly appear.

Looking forward to starting some bigger pieces from these tomorrow.

I’ll also be continuing to work into the big piece I started at @cowbridgeartsociety on Monday.

S’gonna be a busy day!😉
