Do you like the idea of trying something completely different? Being creative? Being inspired? Making a unique piece of art of your own? Why not come along and try a Powertex workshop?

Bron is a level 3 certified Powertex tutor for the SA postcode, covering the West Swansea, Carmarthen area and west. Powertex is an environmentally friendly, water-based sculpting medium that can be used with textiles, paper, cardboard and leather, to create amazing 3D artworks. It can also be used to create unique stone effects using Stoneart clay.

Bron runs a variety of Powertex and mixed-media workshops for individuals and small groups, where people can have a great time with others, making a unique piece of art of their own. Workshops include journals, fairy houses, wall plaques, bottle bling, figurines, funky fish and Stoneart creations.

Types of Workshops

Come and find out about the exciting Stoneart you can create using Powertex. In this one hour session, you will be introduced to Powertex and Stoneart, and create a beautiful heart made of ‘stone’. You will be shown how to create rugged surface effects like weathered stone, and how to add pigments to embellish your piece of Stoneart.

This one hour workshop is great for beginners and those with no experience of Powertex.
All materials, gloves and refreshments are provided. Please note – Powertex is a fabric hardener, and Stoneart is rather dusty, so please wear old clothes and bring an apron!
Cost: £10 per person

How about making a notebook with a cover that is eye-catching and unique to you?

In this workshop you will be introduced to fabric sculpting with the universal medium Powertex. We will be using recycled materials as well as embellishments to decorate a journal that will be yours to take away with you at the end of the workshop.

You will be shown techniques and tips on how to work with Powertex to achieve amazing effects, and how to use items to decorate and personalise your journal, including using a range of pigments to add colour and enhance your piece.

This is a three hour workshop is suitable for beginners and those new to crafting, but also great for those with a little more experience that want to create a unique piece. Children are welcome to attend, but must be accompanied by an adult.

All materials, gloves and refreshments are provided. Please note – Powertex is a fabric hardener so please wear old clothes and bring an apron!

Cost: £25 per person

Do you know someone who believes in fairies? Why not make them a perfect fairy house? These can even put in the garden, and will last forever, as Powertex is completely weatherproof after it has been allowed to dry for three months!

In this workshop, you will be sculpting fabric with the universal medium Powertex to turn a jam jar into a fairy house. We will be using recycled materials as well as embellishments to decorate the jar to make a unique house that will be yours to take away with you at the end of the workshop. You will be shown techniques and tips on how to work with Powertex to achieve amazing effects, and how to use items to decorate and personalise your work, including using a range of pigments to add colour and enhance your piece.

This is a three-hour workshop is suitable for beginners and those new to crafting, but also great for those with a little more experience that want to create a unique piece. Children are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult.

How would you like to create a unique and exciting piece of art? Would you like to sculpt and mould clay to create a piece that will make you smile every time you see it on your wall? Then try the funky Fish workshop.

In this workshop you will be introduced to Stoneart clay. We will be using Powertex and the Stoneart clay medium to sculpt and mould a fantasy fish like seahorses or Angelfish. We will use stamps and mark-makers to imprint patterns, and use Stoneart clay to mould embellishments that can be used in your design to add detail and interest to your fish. You will be shown techniques and tips on how to work with Powertex to achieve amazing effects, including using a range of pigments to add colour and enhance your piece.

Your unique and original art work will be yours to take away with you at the end of the workshop.This is a full day, 6 hour workshop most suited to those with experience of Powertex, but also suitable for adventurous beginners who enjoy a challenge, that want to create a unique piece.

Cost: £75 per person

Suitable for beginners who like a challenge and crafters familiar with using Powertex, this exciting whole day (5 ½ hours) workshop will see you designing and creating your own statuette or figurine. You will be going home with a beautiful sculpture that you can put in pride of place in your home, or even in the garden: once Powertex has been allowed to dry for three months, it is completely weather-proof!

You will be taken through each of the steps to create the sculpture: from building the foundation to creating the head, draping the fabrics, and sculpting the materials used to give the appearance of a whole person. The sculptures will be allowed to dry whilst we have lunch and then we will use the Powertex pigments and dry brushing to make the magic happen and bring your figure to life.

All materials, gloves and refreshments are provided, but please provide your own lunch. Please note – Powertex is a fabric hardener so please wear old clothes and bring an apron!

This workshop is not suitable for children.

How would you like to create a piece of art that looks and feels like stone?
In this workshop you will be introduced to Stoneart. We will be using Powertex and the Stoneart medium to create an amazing surface on a styrofoam circle so that it looks as if it is made of aged, weathered stone. We will use Stoneart clay to mould embellishments that can be used in your design the wreath to add detail and interest. Your unique and original art work will be yours to take away with you at the end of the workshop.

This is a four hour workshop is great for those with a little experience of Powertex, but also suitable for adventurous beginners who enjoy a challenge, that want to create a unique piece.

Cost: £35 per person

Come and have some pre-Christmas fun finding out how Powertex works in a small group, and create unique Christmas baubles to add that special finishing touch to your decorations.

In the workshop, you will be introduced to fabric sculpting with the universal medium Powertex. We will be using recycled materials as well as embellishments to decorate three baubles that will be yours to take away with you at the end of the workshop.

You will be shown techniques and tips on how to work with Powertex to achieve amazing effects, and how to use items to decorate and personalise your decorations, including using a range of pigments to add colour and enhance your piece.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those new to crafting, but also great for those with a little more experience that want to create some unique pieces. Children are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult.

All materials and gloves will be provided. Tea, coffee, mince pies and mulled wine will also be served.

Powertex Stoneart Treasures Box Workshop

Workshop details

In this workshop you will be introduced to the amazing Powertex Universal Medium,  Stoneart and Stoneart clay, to create a stunning picture frame OR treasures box (you choose which you’d like to make on the day). You will be shown how to use Stoneart clay to make your own embellishments to decorate your piece, and how to use bister dyes and pigments to add that little touch of magic.

This is a three hour workshop: it is suitable for beginners and those new to crafting, but also great for those with a little more experience that want to create a unique piece. Children are welcome to attend, but must be accompanied by an adult.

All materials, gloves and light refreshments are provided.

Please bring an apron and wear old clothes: Powertex is a fabric hardener and doesn’t come off once dry!

Cost: £30 per person.
