Description
The summer of 2021 finally saw me able to go back into the landscapes that I love, and to be introduced to new ones. I had a lovely Cornish adventure down on Cape Cornwall with an artist friend: the cliffs, the colours, smells and colours all felt very familiar and lit was a joy to find another place that makes my heart sing.
Working on the beach under the towering faces of the cliffs, with their crags looming over me and the turquoise sea lending the soundtrack, was both exhilarating and humbling. What a joy to be out in this wonderful landscape.
This work developed through the summer from the numerous sketches and photographs I made on the beach: and once again I found myself using higher horizons and broad sweeping fluid marks to capture the imposing and beautifully wild nature of this amazing coastal landscapes.
