Description
This painting was started outside, looking across the valley to the hills beyond. As I painted the first layers, the wind picked up, the sky turned a deep purple, and the rain started to fall. At first it was manageable, but it soon became clear that the rain was washing off the paint as fast as I was putting it on to the canvas. I had to admit defeat, and finished the painting indoors using my sketches and photographs to help me. It’s quite an adventure painting outdoors!
