Description
Part of the collection: ‘Tranquility in the Wilderness’.
I visited Dorset for the first time this summer, and was quite captivated by the coastline. This painting is based on a view of Lyme Regis, looking East along the shoreline. I know my interpretation has been influenced by my love of the Pembrokeshire coast: those cliffs in the distance call to mind the view along Newgale Beach in North Pembrokeshire.
I have used gold leaf to try to recreate the reflected light on the wet sands. I enjoy letting the paint flow in my work, and here I felt it gave the scene a feeling of still being wet after the tide has gone out.
