From the “Tranquility in the Wilderness’ collection.
Moorlands are a wonderful palette of colour and texture. I love the huge variety of hues in the browns and purples of the heathers. Then you have the almost shocking splashes of yellows from the gorse. Then there are the grasses, lichens and mosses. And just when you think you’ve got it, the sun is covered by cloud, and all the colours change completely and the scene is transformed. It’s a kaleidoscope of colours and I love it.
I’ve used lots of different tools and marks to try to reflect the different textures of the landscape, and then added a cheeky bit of gold leaf for the glimpses of reflected light.
